Our Purpose

          We seek to preserve the distinctive songs and musical traditions of the "western" Shaker communities of Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana.  It is our wish to bring this music to today's audiences and, in so doing, to educate and enlighten listeners about the rich musical contribution that the Shakers have contributed to American culture. 

Our Affiliation

       In early 2007 the Western Shaker Singers formed an alliance with the Friends of White Water Shaker Village.  We will actively promote the mission of the Friends of White Water Shaker Village through our performance and research of the musical and cultural legacy of the White Water Shakers and other Shaker communities of the region.  Visit the Friends of White Water Shaker Village website at www.whitewatervillage.org.
